Apple Music requirements

Album Era requires permission to access Apple Music. Catalog search and playback require an active Apple Music subscription, which is purchased separately from Apple and is not included with the free Album Era app.

If search or playback is unavailable, confirm that your Apple Music subscription is active and that Album Era has Music access in your device’s system settings.

Add albums and organize shelves

Use Search to find an album in the Apple Music catalog and add the complete album to your collection. Album Era saves albums as complete works rather than as individual tracks.

You can place an album on any number of custom shelves. You can also create Smart Shelves that update from rules such as artist, genre, release decade, or listening history. Removing a shelf does not delete the albums on it.

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud Sync uses the Apple account signed in on your device to sync supported Album Era collection data through your private iCloud database. You can turn it on or off in Album Era Settings. A relaunch is required after changing the setting.

Album Era’s own backup history is local and is not synced through iCloud by the app. Apple’s device backup or migration features may transfer those local files when you move to another device.

Backups, export, and restore

Open Settings > Backups to view automatic local collection backups. From there, you can restore an existing backup from the in-app history or use the share control to export a backup as a JSON file and choose where to save or share it.

Before restoring a backup, Album Era creates a safety backup of the current collection. When iCloud Sync is enabled, library changes made by a restore can sync to iCloud and your other devices.

Restoring from an external file is not supported in the current release. Keep any exported JSON files somewhere you control; they contain collection information, but not downloaded music or cached artwork image files.

Report an issue

Email albumera@icloud.com and include:

  • The Album Era version.
  • Your device model and operating-system version.
  • What you expected to happen and what happened instead.
  • The steps that reproduce the issue, if known.

Please do not send an exported collection unless it is needed for a particular issue and you are comfortable providing it voluntarily.
